The First Tee of Omaha is excited to announce that over 3,000 youth were able to access Golf and Life Skills programs in 2017. We want to extend out sincere thanks to our programming partners, staff, coaches, volunteers, donors and board of directors for helping us advance our mission and positively impact more and more youth located in the greater Omaha area.
Each year, the coaches from each of The First Tee of Omaha summer programming sites recognize youth as “Participant of the Year” award recipients. These youth are selected as displaying both Golf and Life Skills throughout the programming sessions. This year’s winners include: Reagan Muhlecke (Female-North Omaha), Ivan Yabut (Male-North Omaha), Isabella Saxton (Female-South Omaha), Oscar Yuhas-Vining (Male-South Omaha), Abigail Ridout (Female-West Omaha), and William McTaggart (Male-West Omaha) Congratulations to this year’s award recipients!
Did you know that Hogan’s Junior Golf Heroes – The First Tee of Omaha has been providing Golf and Life Skills programs for 20+ years? Thank you to all the youth participants and families who have been involved over the years! Our staff and coaches consider it a privilege to work with all of the youth participants each year!
Youth participants at our Westwood Heights GC programming site show their appreciation to our coaching staff after completing the 6 week summer program. Summer programming sessions focus on Golf AND Life skills. Youth participants not only learn how to chip, putt and swing, but they also learn about golf’s 9 Core Values. Thank you to all of our dedicated coaches for bringing summer programming to youth in Omaha for our 27th straight year!

Parents with youth participating in our summer programs, please note that we will have an OFF day on Monday, 7/3 and Tuesday, 7/4 for ALL summer programming sessions! We encourage families to take time over the extended July 4 weekend to get out on the course and make it a FAMILY GOLF DAY! If travelling out of town, we encourage you to consider taking the kids golfing wherever you are. All programming sessions will resume on Wednesday, 7/5! Thank you!

Congratulations to our summer program “Participants Of The Year” for 2016! Each year, our chapter’s coaches acknowledge one male and one female youth participant from each of our programming sites. The process of selection is not a perfect process by any means, but coaches typically nominate youth participants who are improving as golfers and/or actively and consistently displaying our 9 Core Values. “Participant of the Year” award recipients for 2016 shown here are: Adrienne Nielsen – West Omaha, Michael Faulkner Jr. – West Omaha, Tanner Muhlecke – North Omaha, and Annabelle Kircher – South Omaha. Each year, our chapter acknowledges the dedication and effort put forth by our entire volunteer team by recognizing a “Volunteer of the Year.” In 2016, the lead coaches decided to acknowledge two volunteers for their excellent volunteer service. Please join our entire coaching staff and board of directors in congratulating and thanking Amanda Wilms and Ashley Wilms for their volunteer support during our summer program. Both young ladies displayed exceptional commitment to our west Omaha programming at Westwood Heights GC and sincerely enjoyed working with all of the participating youth. Nice work Amanda and Ashley!
The First Tee of Omaha encourages youth to participant in individual and team golf competitions when able. Many youth prefer team competition over individual competition when entering the first time. We are excited to announce that we have our first group of TEAM golfers playing in these events. The inaugural team is made up of 6 female golfers from our Westwood Heights GC programming site. Eventually, The First Tee of Omaha would like to see a TEAM of golfers competing in TEAM golf events from each of our programming sites…..TEAM TFTO-Westwood Heights GC, TEAM TFTO-Steve Hogan GC, and TEAM TFTO-Spring Lake GC. Youth ages 7-13 years of age are eligible, but we first need a parent to step forward and serve as team captain (communicate with NJGT, coordinate scheduling, submit entry forms, and coordinate rides.) For parents interested in serving as a team captain and getting 6 youth involved on the TEAM, please contact our Executive Director or Program Director to learn more.
Youth participants from The First Tee of Omaha recently participated in the Alvin Brooks Junior Golf Classic held in Kansas City, MO. Congratulations to Tanner M. and Loveyah J. from The First Tee of Omaha on their first place finishes in their respective age groups/divisions! Tanner finished 1st in the 14-16 boys division. Loveyah finished 1st in the 7-9 co-ed division. Maya N. also had some fun, finishing 3rd in the 14-16 girls division. Thank you Coach Brandi, Coach Brandon and everyone else who made this event a fun experience for all the youth involved!
